why are you offline?
It's been a good while since I've actively been online or participated in online communities. Part of it is due to the exhaustion from AI sloppification & enshittification of everything I've ever mildly enjoyed. Part of it is due to my health improving vastly, thank god.
I've been going outside more. I hang out with my family often. I am slowly returning to life.
This ties into having to cut off some online activities. I can't watch everything like a hawk. It's all just background noise while I do something else, or just a fun distraction while I wait for something.
Slowly, I'm learning how to interact with the web from scratch. In a healthier, safer way. I love the internet, even if the surface web does not quite enjoy me -- or so it seems. Most chat apps are off-limits, though. Especially Discord. I just can't handle the shitfest that is their services anymore. You might see me there, but I merely lurk.
I'll be returning to moving the self-hosting stuff forward. The oekaki and mediawiki will need a good refresh, and they'll get their own domain that isn't straight up just the WAKocima brand ™. They deserve that. I have to do some heavy work, though. I don't want to rely on cloudflare. I want to make dumb mistakes, I want to learn how to make my own secure corner of the internet. I want to learn. I want to be good at it, and forward that knowledge to others.
A lot is coming up. I'm working on a lot of things at once, circulating. My brain is clear, but I need to rotate a few projects to avoid total burnout. Thus, I'm not announcing anything concrete until I'm truly done. All I can say is, take care of yourselves. I'm sure we'll see each other somewhere, soon, again.
Much love, Vinny
